Practice Areas and Expertise
• Preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign-origin patent applications in a wide range of electrical and mechanical arts including: semiconductor technologies, wireless and network communications, navigation systems, optical and laser devices, imaging and display technologies, computer hardware, hazardous substance detection, software, and mechanical devices.
• Developing and implementing domestic and foreign patent application prosecution strategies for both large and small corporate entities.
• Preparing patent clearance, patentability, invalidity, and non-infringement opinions in the electrical and mechanical arts.
• Counseling clients regarding legal matters relating to Intellectual Property including patent portfolio management and filing strategies, freedom to operate issues, patent prosecution, post-issuance procedures (e.g., reissue and reexamination), trade secret law, licensing, and enforcement.
• Providing due diligence services in connection with licensing, mergers and acquisitions.
• Negotiating and preparing patent licensing agreements for both small companies and large corporations.
• Assisting in patent and trademark litigation, including preparing trial strategies, drafting motions and briefs, and presenting oral arguments.
• Trademark counseling, prosecution and enforcement, including preparing clearance opinions, filing and prosecution of federal trademark applications, and handling oppositions, cancellations, and domain name and internet disputes.
Prior Experience
• Former Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
• Industry experience as an electrical engineer in radar systems.
